Ricky Nayar
Ricky Nayar started his career in the construction industry in 2002. Less than 10 years later, he partnered with his brother Harry to open Atlas Granite Inc. What began as a small operation with an inventory of about five slabs has now grown to be one of the largest importers and fabricators of natural and engineered stone in Western Canada. During COVID, the company, which has a presence in B.C., Alberta, and Saskatchewan, changed its business model to offer a wide variety of products, including countertops, plumbing fixtures, and other building products. As CEO and cofounder, Ricky is responsible for setting and executing organizational strategy, overseeing executive leadership, fostering growth and business strategy plans, and developing and sourcing new products to maintain a competitive edge. In addition, he feels strongly about keeping in touch with clients and makes a point of having weekly lunch meetings as it helps in relationship building and provides him with valuable feedback.
"We are constantly developing new products and were the first company in the world to develop touchscreen countertops in 2020," Ricky says. That same year, Atlas Granite won the Best Kitchen and Bath Product Award, Best of IBS, the World's Largest Light Construction Trade Show, and was also a finalist in Best New Home Technology Products. "In the next few months, we will be unveiling another unique construction product that has been developed in-house by our team,” he adds.
